Oh, hello! Welcome to FOR LOVE AND TRAVEL. We are Hailee and Kira, or Kira and Hailee, depending on who is your favorite. We are the people behind the words and a couple who decided to start a blog. We wanted to start a blog about us and our journey as we go along to document the small and big events in our lives together.

The real beginning of this journey of writing down our adventures began when one of us went on a vacation without me…*cough, cough* Kira.

Kira is a huge traveler and was invited to go to Costa Rica for vacation. I was left behind for this vacation, and we had just moved in together (read this blog if you want to hear more about that). The bottom line is I was home alone in a new city, and at the time, I was in the interim between jobs (perfect time to go on vacation but whatever). So, Kira went to Costa Rica, and she didn’t have phone service or good Wi-Fi, and like any good vacation, she was jammed packed with fun things to do, so we weren’t able to talk like we normally did. I quickly realized by day two that I didn’t want to flood her with the boring monotonies of my day but wanted to use what limited time we had to hear about her day and her adventures.

That being said, sometimes throughout the day, there would be something I wished I could tell her. With that all being said, I took matters into my own hands. I sat down and wrote her a book. Every day, I would take notes on everything I found interesting, funny, or just events that happened. Then every night, I would sit down and write about my day. I would start off with a quote that made me feel good; then, I would write about the events of the day. I would have a paragraph about my feelings for the day, and lastly, I would end with a paragraph about the weather.

Needless to say, it was a hit, and it sparked the creativity in me to write down and express my creativity with writing. Kira thought it was great and pushed me to continue with a blog. 

This progressed into conversations and planning a blog. “What would I even write about” was a common question even amongst people we whispered to about the beginning of our blog. We decided it would be a collection of our stories, travels, and fitness/health journeys. I wanted to use our blog to keep our family and friends up to date with our lives because, trust me, things change fast. Perhaps, this blog is our keepsake and a way to keep ourselves accountable for our promises to each other and steps toward achieving our dreams.

Okay, so that’s the why. But why “FOR LOVE AND TRAVEL”? That one is easy. I am writing this blog for love and to document our travels. Easy-peasy, this is a diary documenting all we love and all the places we will visit. I consider this blog a labor of love. It bares what I hold most dear. It’s a blog for anyone who likes quirky humor, loves exploring and trying new things, and can laugh and learn with us.
