We’re Traveling : France Part 2

A Woman Standing on a Sidewalk Next to a Tree

Our trip to France was a long one so I am going to break it up into bite size pieces. The beginning of the trip was great. We ended up meeting Kira’s family who live in Turkey, and they were so much fun, showing us around Nice and helping us speak French. Kira and I stayed in a hostel for 3 days before we went to stay with her great aunt. On a side note her great aunt is literally amazing! At 70-something, she does like multi-day solo hikes through the French Alps and is currently hiking across Spain to Portugal. She is actually my goal in life. The side note was important because we did a lot of walking, and I should’ve trained to keep up with her great aunt. Anyway, it was great we flew in and went straight to the hostel. My feet were super swollen from flying and not moving enough; we went to take a nap and woke up in time for dinner. Lesson 3: Always get up, move around, and take off your shoes in the airplane or any long travel because your feet will swell if you don’t.

The first couple days we just walked around and checked out the city of Nice. One day we went to the top of this park and there was an elevator or stairs. Mind you it is 28 degrees Celsius or like 82ish degree’s Fahrenheit and all humid air. Naturally Kira wanted to do the stairs, and I was the only one who agreed to go with her so she wouldn’t be alone. It ended up being a great adventure where we got a lot of good photos. Lesson 4: Listen to Kira and sometimes take the long way. Then we got lost from our group and had to walk around the whole park about three times before we could find them. Being in Europe with no cellphone felt like the dark ages. Rushing to the nearest cafe to find wifi to connect with the group always lead to some sort of funny adventure.

The next couple of days were filled with beaches, pizza, and walking. All that you would expect out of a trip to Europe. We had socca, Niçoise sandwich, pizza, and lots of gelato. We walked around castles, hiked, and had so many good drinks. Kira and I are obsessed with European living and as my first time I was just so impressed. Lesson 5: Always order new drinks and food to branch out of our normal, you just might be impressed.

After an impromptu fireworks show in Canne and a quick detour to the Musee Oceanographique de Monaco in Monaco we decided it was time for yet another adventure. Lesson 6: When traveling say yes to as much as you can, you never know where its going to take you.

Come back to hear about what kind of fun adventure we got into next on our Euro trip!
